Former AJHL All-Star Signs Professional Contract

North Charleston, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays, proud ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins, announced that the team has signed forward Patrick Cullen for the 2012-13 season. In keeping with club policy, details of the agreements were not disclosed.

Cullen, a former Washington Junior Nationals player and AJHL All-Star (2005-07), skated in eight games with the Stingrays last season scoring two goals and two assists for four points after completing his senior year at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

In four seasons at R.P.I., the Washington, D.C., native recorded 62 points (24g, 38a) in 136 contests and was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team, ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team and received the team’s Outstanding Freshman Award. Before joining the NCAA ranks, Cullen spent the 2007-08 season with the Indiana Ice of the United States Hockey League netting eight goals and 18 assists for 26 points in 58 games.

“We are very excited to have Patrick Cullen back after finishing the season with us last year,” said Stingrays Head Coach Spencer Carbery. “He was able to transition quickly to the pro game and contributed at both ends of the ice immediately.”

"I'm real excited to get back to where I was at," Cullen said. "I think I am a good fit and that is a big reason why I wanted to come back." Click here to listen to the full interview with Cullen.
