Two future Alaska Goldpanners have swept the PacWest Pitcher and Player of the Week honors, after Trevor Oaks (pictured right) and Stephen Lohr earned their respective awards. Both players put up great numbers this past week for the Cal Baptist Lancers.
Oaks, a sophomore right-hander, threw seven shutout innings against the Academy of the Arts. He allowed just two hits and struck out a season high 11 batters. With the win, Trevor is now a perfect 9-0 this season. He has a stellar 1.72 era in 89 innings pitched this season. He’s walked 30, fanned a conference high 94 batters and he has a 1.09 WHIP to show for it as well this year.
Stephen Lohr went a combined 5/14 (.357) this week. He hit a home run and drove in a league-best seven runs this past week. Lohr, a freshman from Buena Park, Ca is now hitting .318, with 3 home runs and 31 runs batted in.
The Goldpanners will open the 2014 season in early June.
