FAIRBANKS — The Alaska Goldpanners turned the tables in Palmer on Thursday night, routing the Mat-Su Miners 14-4 for a split of their two-game Alaska Baseball League series.

One night after falling 9-2, the Goldpanners lit up the scoreboard at Hermon Brothers Field to improve to 8-5 in ABL play and share second place with Mat-Su (11-8). Each team is one game behind the Anchorage Bucs.

The Goldpanners led 13-0 through the top of the fourth inning Thursday, highlighted by a seven-run outburst in the third that was capped by David Fletcher’s two-run home run.

Alaska outhit Mat-Su 15-10,  and nine of 10 Goldpanners had at least a hit. Six of those players produced multiple hits.

Besides his first homer of the season, Edwards got his third double of the season, leading the second baseman to a 3-for-6 effort with a game-high three runs scored.

Casey Munoz hit 2 for 6 with an RBI and two runs scored. Nolan Meadows went 2 for 5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Payden Cawley-Lamb was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI, and Rick Reigner also went 2 for 4 while driving in a run and scoring once.

Chance Abrath scored twice Thursday and drove in two runs with a double during the Goldpanners’ 4-0 lead  in the top of the first inning.

David Fletcher plated two runs during his 1-for-4 night and Nick Catalano scored twice and contributed a hit. Jim Sinatro had his first double as a Goldpanner and scored once.

Mikey Ramirez, the first of five Goldpanners pitchers, earned the win while scattering five hits during the first five innings. He allowed one run and a walk  and had a game-high five strikeouts.

Reliever Matt Milke pitched two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and striking out two. Joey Capistran gave up two runs, two hits and a walk while striking out one in one inning.

Nathan Michalski allowed a run, a hit, and two walks and struck out one in 1/3 inning. Closer Andrew Buehler gave up a walk in 2/3 innings.

David Koll took the loss after the Goldpanners registered five hits, four runs and a walk in 2/3 innings against the Miners starter.

John Williams  went 3 for 5 for Mat-Su with a run scored. Micheal Thomas hit 2 for 4 with two RBI.

The Goldpanners face the Glacier Pilots in two games in Anchorage, a 7 p.m. contest today and a 4 p.m. game Saturday.

They visit the Chugiak Chinooks at 5 p.m. Sunday before returning to Fairbanks.
