FAIRBANKS — The Alaska Goldpanners got a late start Tuesday night against the Anchorage Bucs in the Alaska Baseball League Postseason Tournament at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage.
At press time, the Goldpanners were ahead 1-0 going in the bottom of the third inning.
Third baseman Alex Rubanowitz led off with the Panners’ first hit of the game, a single against Bucs starting pitcher Brennan Henry. Rubanowitz went to second on a pass ball, stole third base and scored on a sacrifice grounder by Nolan Meadows.
Ryan Leonards had two singles and Don Andre Clark had one hit for the Bucs against Panners starter Drew Mitrisin, who also had a strikeout and allowed a walk through the first three innings.
The Panners’ first game of the six-day tournament was delayed because the Anchorage Glacier Pilots needed 11 innings for an 8-7 win over the Mat-Su Miners earlier Tuesday evening. The Panners are set to play at 9 tonight against Mat-Su, which went to extra innings for the second straight game.
