Team Slovenia won the Pannon Ice Hockey Cup

In the tournament's opening game Slovenia beat Croatia 4:0. Hungary played Italy in Ted Sator's first match as the Hungarian head coach : we won 6:1 in a wonderful debut. Sator should feel satisfied with his team which includes 3 non-Hungarian citizens and a lot of young players.

On Saturday the competition between Slovenia and Hungary continued. John Harrington's team won against Italy 3:1. Just like in the Olympic Pre-Qualification Tournament Hungary defeated the Croatians with a very impressive 7:1.

On the last day Italy took third place after they beat Croatia 7:0. The closing game between Slovenia and Hungary was a worthy final. The atmosphere was fantastic in Székesfehérvár's ice rink which is named after the late, great Hungarian player Gábor Ocskay. Sator wanted to test his young talent so the Hungarian first line didn't play. Slovenia took the lead but we equalized. Then in the 57 th  minute, after a controversial situation, the video referee awarded  a goal to Slovenia. The Hungarian players tried their best to equalize but the Slovenians scored again giving them a 3:1 win and the trophy.

If we summarize the weekend we can say Team Hungary's performance was really reassuring and we hope Ted Sator's team can make our dreams come true.

The most valueable player in the Pannon Ice Hockey Cup was the Hungarian defender Ádám Hegyi.

Marian Manfreda from Team Slovenia was the best forward.
Levente Szuper (Hungary) was chosen as the tournament's best goalie.

Table:

1. Slovenia, 9 points, 10:2

2. Hungary, 6 points, 14:5

3. Italy, 3 points, 9:9

4. Croatia, 0 points, 1:18
