Coaching Staff

Head Coach - Trevor Stewart

Trevor Stewart was named the Ice Dogs Head Coach for the 2011-12 season.  Stewart came to Fairbanks after spending last year as an assistant coach for the St. Louis Bandits in the NAHL. During his season in St. Louis, the Bandits won the regular season North Division title and compiled the second best record in the league.  He also helped 8 players secure Division 1 opportunities. Prior to St. Louis, he spent two seasons as the Head Coach of the Missoula Maulers Tier III Junior A hockey team out of Missoula, Montana and the Northern Pacific Hockey League. Over the two years, the Missoula Maulers went 61-35 and qualified for the Cascade Cup Playoffs both seasons. During this time, ten Missoula players were recognized with all-league honors. Stewart was also selected as the head coach of the Northern Pacific Hockey League all-star team.

Assistant Coach/Director of Player Personnel - Geoff Beauparlant

Geoff Beauparlant began as an assistant coach with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs during the 2010-2011 season.  Geoff is a native of Georgetown, Ontario, Canada, and played four years in the Ontario Junior A Hockey League prior to attending The Pennsylvania State University.  During his college career, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and helped backstop the Nittany Lions to three consecutive Division I American Collegiate Hockey Association National Championships.

Upon graduation, Beauparlant joined the Port Colborne Junior Sailors (now Pirates) of the Golden Horseshoe League where he served as an assistant coach from 02-04.  Geoff then spent two years as a head coach of Midget AAA teams in the Philadelphia and central Pennsylvania area from ‘05-‘07.  He was rewarded for his efforts when he was named the head coach of the Central Penn Panthers of the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League for the ‘07-‘08 season.  He led the Panthers (23-17-2) to a quarterfinal appearance in the Keegan Cup playoffs and was named the South Conference Head Coach for the All-Star Game.

For the ‘08-‘09 and ‘09-‘10 seasons, Geoff was the assistant coach for the Columbus (GA) Cottonmouths of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL).  Primarily responsible for working with the defense and goaltending as well as video breakdown, he helped lead the Cottonmouths to two consecutive playoff appearances and a two-year overall record of 53-49-14. 

In addition to his duties with the Cottonmouths, Geoff was the director of scouting / recruiting for the Philadelphia JR Flyers of the Atlantic Junior Hockey League until the fall of ‘09.

He resides in North Pole with his wife Heather and his two sons, Luc and Ian.
