FAQ’s:
Can I choose which team I would like to play for?
The HPHL aims to promote school pride and sense of community, therefore players play for their school team. In some cases more than one school is combined to form a team. You can look at the team listings and find out which team your school plays for.
Which team should I tryout for?
If you attend a school affiliated with a specific team you tryout for that team.
If you homeschool or attend a private, charter, or an open enrollment school then your team is determined by the public school attendance area you live in (with the exception of players living in the Douglas County School District). In rare instances the public school team may be unable to add additional players, in which case the Division Director will assign the player to another team that is able to accommodate extra players.
Players living in Douglas County, that do not attend a school with a team affiliation will be assigned to a team by the Division Director.
Players that attend an online school will be assigned to a team based on the public school attendance area they live in contingent upon approval by the Registrar.
If you live in the attendance area of or attend a public school without a team affiliation you will be assigned to a near by team by your Division Director.
If I play on another school’s CHSAA team, can I also play on their HPHL team?
HPHL teams and CHSAA teams are not related. You would need to play for your own school’s HPHL team or for the team that your school is affiliated with.
Can I return to the same team I played for last year even though my school now has a team of it’s own?
Seniors and players that were on varsity last year have the option of returning to last year’s team IF that team is willing and able to take them or playing for their school’s new team. All other players need to tryout for their school’s new team.
Which team do I tryout for if I was cut from the varsity team that my school is affiliated with last year and played on another school’s jv team?
You would return to the team your school is affiliated with for tryouts.
I was assigned to another school’s team through the goalie pool last year, can I return to that team this year?
You need to return to the team your school is affiliated with for tryouts.
I tried out for and played for a different team last year than the one my school is affiliated with this year. Can I return to that team this year?
Seniors and players that were on varsity last year have an option of returning to last year’s team IF that team is willing/able to take them or to tryout for the team their school is affiliated with.
What happens if I don’t make the varsity team and my school does not have a JV team?
If you are cut from the varsity team and the team you tried out for does not have a JV team, you will have the option of playing on another JV team. Your Division Director will notify you which JV team you would be able to play for.
