The Hawks look to hit the ice flying this weekend in their home opening exhibition series with the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers of the Eastern Hockey League.  After 3 long weeks of work, the team is ready to jump back into game mode this weekend.

This game marks the first of many making their senior campaigns at IUP this season.  Amongst the senior are:

FWD – Jordan Ducko (Captain)
FWD – Chip Byrne (Asst. Captain)
FWD – Reid Duguid
FWD – Tanner Gilliland
FWD – Nick Gray
FWD – Shane Yaller
FWD – Joakim Karlsson
GOAL -  Austin Moody
GOAL – Robbie Stock

This group brings a lot of veteran experience to the Hawks and will be called upon to lead a young rest of the team throughout the season.  This group will be familiar with the Jr. Flyers after earning a split with them 2 years ago.

Along with the seniors, IUP brings in a group a young players looking to make their ACHA debut this weekend.  Trevor Mack (Soph) and Alex Ignatenko (Fresh) will also be familiar with the Jr Flyers after joining the Hawks this fall from their respective EHL teams.  The rest of the new faces with the club this year are D2 callups Danny Formica (Jr) and Danny Bostedo (Soph), Oswego St. transfer Jon Spencer (Soph), UPJ transfer Josh Oliver (Soph), and a Freshman class consisting of Mike Longhitano, Nathan Smith, Tyler Kurtz, Brett Goldstein, Joey Keenan, and Brendan George.
