Kalamazoo, MI-The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings, proud member of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), announces the team will host the first of two open tryout camps this weekend May 25^th-27^th at Wings West, located at 5076 Sports Drive in Kalamazoo.

Tryout hopefuls are coming from all over the U.S. (Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and Texas), as well as Canada to participate in scrimmages Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. All sessions will be open to the public to watch and admission is FREE and a complete schedule is located at the end of this release.

“The camps will give us a great opportunity to prepare for the NAHL Draft (May 31^st),” said Marc Fakler, general manager/head coach. “Camps like these are also great tools for players to solidify their position for the draft, as well as give players that might have gone under the radar to raise their draft status.”

The three-day camp is designed to help the Jr. K-Wings in selecting their 2012-13 team, which will begin in September, but also to scout and recruit for future seasons. Entering their second season in the NAHL, the Jr. K-Wings will be bringing back a core group of players from last season’s playoff squad that made it to the North Divisional Finals.  Some of those players will also be attending this weekend’s camp.

The NAHL Draft will occur on Thursday, May 31^st.  Fans can follow the draft on www.nahl.com.  

Kalamazoo’s second tryout camp is scheduled from June 27^th-29^th, also at Wings West. The Jr. K-Wings main camp will begin at the conclusion of the second open tryout and run from the evening of June 29 and conclude Sunday, July 1. 

The Jr. K-Wings are also in search for more host families for the upcoming season.
