All Star Game - 2013

The 2013 All Star game is quickly approaching and this year should be one of the best.  The festivities will take place on Wednesday, April 24th at Midwest Sport Hockey.  The round robin games will start at 6 PM with the skills contest and MOIHA All Stars vs St Charles Community College (2013 National Champions) game to follow.

Congratulations Pat Maroon!

Former Oakville High and MOIHA alum Pat Maroon scored his 1st NHL goal against the Nashville Preds on Saturday night for the Anaheim Ducks.  Everyone at MOIHA and the St Louis hockey fans congratulate Pat on netting his first at the highest level.

Tour Breakout

  • New divisions this year will be junior high and Alumni. 
  • See website for entry form, dates, and information

2013 Season

  • Participating rinks – AA, Midwest, Matteson, Wright City
  • All Star Game –Midwest Sport Hockey April 24th – Skills contest, round robin, winner plays college team
  • Playoffs – Prefer to play later in May with all championships played on one day in May still reviewing proms and graduations.
  • Goalies – As usual, shortage with huge demand and low supply – Working on some from the ice side but please send names in and have them sign up for the draft.  The $100 fee may be waived if possible.

Rule changes for 2013

  • All mouth guards must be attached to the cage/mask of players helmet
  • Varsity players must have matching pants and jerseys, all other divisions in high school and junior high must have matching jerseys, like color pants.
  • Teams are allowed a maximum 3 players from the draft. No past exceptions will be granted.
  • A player may enter the draft if they attend a school that currently participates in MOIHA under the following guidelines:
  • Must be in good standing with current club the player is wishing to gain a release from
  • Must have written release from the club board, manager or coach
  • MOIHA will have to approve the release.  The release will only be granted under extenuating circumstances. 
  • The player must go through this process before each season and will be expected for all players that were released prior to the 2013 season
  • A “point out” threshold will be established for the C division.

Procedural changes

  • Draft – tryouts conducted throughout the area for coaches to evaluate and select players.
  • Rosters for games – each roster will be submitted at binder check.  Players without completed, individual RHA forms will not be placed on rosters. – any game played without players in pointsteak, the team will forfeit.  Scorekeepers will not have the ability to add players!
  • Pants – partnership with Tour for quick orders!  Please notify Michael Bell with your orders.
  • Roster must be completed in excel and emailed to Michael.bell@moiha.orgin addition to inclusion in your binder
  • Please keep the RHA forms separate from your binder at the binder check.
  • Payments may now be taken by check, cash and credit cards

 

 

 

 

Divisions  

High School

  • Tier 1- Top 8 teams in the varsity divisions will make up this tier.  It will have an 8 team minimum but can include more.
  • Tier 2- Considered an experienced level of play that cannot match the top level of play.
  • Tier 3- Considered a lower level of play that cannot compete at the higher levels.
  • Division 2- This division is for schools that have enough players to make up a second varsity team. 
  • JV- This level is for younger, inexperienced players that cannot compete at the varsity level
  • C Team- This is a developmental tier and is reserved for beginners. 

Junior High

  • Tier 1-Considered the top level of competition for this division.
  • Tier 2 – mid level skills that cannot compete at the top level.
  • Tier 3 – considered entry level or developmental skills that cannot compete at the higher levels.
  • Note: If teams show early in the schedule that they are not tiered appropriately, they may be moved to a higher/lower level during the regular season if possible or in the playoffs

 

GENERAL STUDENT ELIGIBILITY
High School Divisions

  • High school grades 9-12 eligible for Varsity, JV, and C divisions
  • 8thgraders may play in the lowest level team while being a full participant in the junior high division.  8thgraders may apply to play at a higher level with approvals from MOIHA based on size and skill.
  • 7thgraders may play as a goalie at the lowest level team with no exceptions
  • Note: any junior high players participating at the high school level must play a minimum 8 games at the junior high level during the same season.

Junior High Divisions

  • Junior high grades 6-8 eligible for all levels of junior high & 5thgraders

Dates 

February 9th– 10 AM – 6 PM  Binder check at All American MOIHA office (Deposits due)

February 10th– Deadline for entry to Tour Breakout

February 22-24 – Tour Breakout – games played at The Wheel and Matteson’s

February 24th– Balance due for all teams

March 1st– Season starts for all divisions

April 24th– All Star game

TRYOUT CENTRAL

OAKVILLE TRYOUTS

Oakville Inline Hockey evaluations are scheduled for Thursday, January 10, 2013 and Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 4:00 - 5:00 at All American for all players (Middle School through High School).  We ask that each interested player attend at least one of the times.  Please arrive at 3:30 if possible so you can check in, register, and receive your evaluation #.  Please be prepared to stay until 5:30 each day if the extra time is needed to properly evaluate everyone.

Preseason Meeting

All Coaches and Team Managers:

 

The MOIHA 2013 preseason kick off meeting will be held at Lindenwood University in St Charles on January 16th at 7 PM.  The meeting will be held in the Spellman Center room 4080 Leadership room.

 

During the meeting, we will be discussing the rule changes for the upcoming season, key dates, and the exciting new changes for the 2013 Tour Breakout.

 

Please bring your schools prom and graduation dates.

 

We look forward to seeing you there!  If you are unable to attend, send a proxy so they can collect the information for the upcoming season.
