Totems and Titans 3-0 on Weekend

The Seattle Totems went to the Lane Event Center-Ice looking to over take the Eugene Generals for first place in the Pacific Division. The Totems had a two point lead for first going into Sunday’s game. The first five and half minutes the Generals and Totems were tied at zero then the Totems scored five goals in the first period. Gerry Holland and Chris Beede scored two goals in less then a minute. Gerry Holland scored his second goal 7:06 into the first period. Kyle Peterson and Branden Vandermoon added two more goals in the period for the Totems. Eric Watters scored the Generals lone goal 18:08 on the powerplay. The two teams scored just one more goals when Brad Main scored the Generals second goal 14:09 into the third period. Anthony Chimenti earned the victory saving 33 of 35 shots he saw in the game.

Anthony Chimenti and Dylan Woodring had a goaltending duel on Saturday night with Chimenti and the Totems coming up on top 3-0. The Totems scored their first goal of the game 5:24 into the first period. The Generals had a five on three in the second period and could not capitalized on the advantage. Branden Vandermoon scored the Totems second goal of the game 18:15 into the second period. Jake Rademacher added an empty net goal at the end of the game. Dylan Woodring saved 40 of the 42 shots he saw in the lost. Chimenti saved all 44 shots he saw in the game. Chimenti earned his third shut out in five games the Totems played. The Totems won the season series 5-4 over the Generals.

The Rogue Valley Wranglers hosted the Tri-City Titans last Friday and Saturday at the Rrrink in Medford. The first period of Friday’s game was scoreless, but Brook Poe gave the Titans a 1-0 lead 1:46 into the second period. Jake Kirkpatrick and Brook Poe scored the other two goals in the period giving the Titans a 3-0 lead at the second intermission. The Titans went up 4-0 when Bo Bettinson scored a goal in the third. Mike Feagan scored the only goal of the game in the third cutting the Titans lead to 4-1. Jordan Allan added an empty net goal and gave the Titans a 5-1 win. Brook Poe, Shawn McElroy, Jake Kirkpatrick, Jordan Allen and Ricky Doubrava all had two points in the game. The two teams were a combined 0 for 13 on the powerplay.

The Titans swept the Wranglers on Saturday night beating the Wranglers 4-1. The Titans out shot the Wranglers 41-23. Joradan Allan gave the Titans a 1-0 lead at the first intermission with his goal 4:47 into the period assisted by Andrew Overman. Dave Giguere put the Titans up 2-0 in the second, but Casey Skolnik cut the Titans lead in half with the Wranglers only goal of the game 13:40 into the period. Casey Mertens extended the Titans lead to 3-1 at the second intermission with the Titans first of two powerplay goals in the game. Brett Nussbaum scored the only goal in the third period with his powerplay goal assisted by Cody Castro and Danny Derasmo. Jordan Allan led the Titans in scoring with a goal and an assist.

The Puget Sound Tomahawks hosted the River City Jaguars last Saturday night with the winner solely being in fourth place. Aaron Alto gave the Jaguars a 1-0 assisted by Garry Schut. Ben Surgalski scored his first of two goals 4:08 into the second period. Surgalski scored his second goal of the game forty-four second into the third period assisted by Brayden Kaufman and Kris Kunzler. Kaufman scored what turned out to be the game-winning goals 2:46 into the third period. Zach Fundak scored the Jaguars second goal but that would not be enough with the Tomahawks winning 3-2. Kaufman led the Tomahawks in scoring with a goal and two assists. Aaron Boyko earned the win saving 53 of the 55 shots he faced.

The Eugene Generals and the Tri-City Titans both had long bus rides to Kennewick to face off against each other on Sunday afternoon in Kennewick. The Titans won the game 4-2 beating the Generals for only the second time this season. The Generals scored first on Ryan McDonald’s goal 2:02 into the game. Jordan Allan tied the game in the first period with his goal assisted by Casey Mertens. Dave Giguere gave the Titans the lead in the second period. Eric Watters tied the game for the Generals with 53 seconds left in the period. Giguere and Kyle Umlauf scored two goal less then a minute a part giving the Titans their third and fourth goals of the game. Casey Mertens led the Titans in scoring with three assists in the game.

The last game in the Pacific Division for week 17 was the Wranglers hosting the Totems. The Totems won the game 7-1 finishing the weekend 3-0. The three victories gave the Totems a four-point lead over the Generals for first in the Pacific Division. Gerry Holland scored the only goal in the first period, but the Totems got two goals from Chris Beede in the second. Ryan Coleman scored the lone goal for the Wranglers with 36 seconds left in the second. The Totems scored four goals in the third period by: Cmaeran Hoffman, Stormy Knight (2) and Kyle Peterson. Knight led the Totems in scoring with two goals and two assists.
