NORPAC All-Star Team Prepares for Nationals

The NORPAC All-Start (Best of the Rest Team) practiced today in preparation for its first game against the the Atlantic Junior Hockey League (AJHL) tomorrow at 12:00 PM local in Marlborough, MA where the Tier III A National Tournament is taking place.

The NORPAC Best of the Rest of the Team consists of players from NORPAC (both the America West and Pacific Division teams) who teams did not qualify for the National Tournament. The organizers hope that the Best of the Rest Tournament will provide very qualified players exposure to Colleges and higher level Junior programs. Various scouts at the Division I and Division III level college levels as well as the USHL, NAHL, as well as other junior league will be in attendance.

NORPAC Announced the team two weeks ago, at the completion of the League Championship. The forwards selected were Gary Astalos (MIS), Ricky Doubrava (TRI), Jason Effertz (BIL), Nick Kent (YEL), Brad Main (EUG), Tyler Marek (MIS), Ryan McDonald (EUG), Christian Merritt (EUG), Tyler Poulsen (EUG), Nick Scheafer (BIL), and Kory Sosnowski (YEL). On the blue line, NORPAC brought, Blake Bishop (EUG), Dalton Gilbert (MIS), Nick Hinsberg (YEL), Andrew Lord (YEL), Lane Mahoney (MIS), and Brett Nussbaum (TRI). Andy DiCristofaro (MIS) and Dylan Woodring (EUG) will be between the pipes.

General Manager, Flint Doungchak (EUG), remarked, "This is a great opportunity for our players. We have so many capable players in our league, it's nice to see that they will be getting exposure to colleges. It's an honor to represent NORPAC at this event."

Trevor Stewart (MIS) was named Head Coach of the team and Kevin Stone (BOZ) will be joining him as his assistant.

The team will be playing against the AJHL tomorrow, followed by WSHL on Saturday, the MnJHL on Sunday and finishing with CSHL on Monday morning. All games will broadcast via FastHockey. Please visit FastHockey.com for more information.
