NewsDate: Jan 26, 2012 Weekend Preview
This upcoming weekend in the Northern Pacific Hockey League will be a turning point for teams as they look to make moves in the playoff picture. With less than a month remaining in the regular season schedule, teams are playing for home ice advantage and looking to solidify their spot in the postseason. Eugene vs. Southern Oregon These two in-state rivals will be at it again as Eugene looks to make a move toward third place in the NORPAC. Eugene is coming off of a tough series with Yellowstone in which two of the three games went into overtime. The Generals currently trail the Quake by four points in the standings and are looking to close the margin in two games this weekend. Meanwhile, Southern Oregon has been riding a hot streak to start the second half of the season. The Spartans have not lost a game since November and are coming off a weekend sweep of the Vancouver Victory. This will be a tough and exciting matchup as these two teams constantly battle in close contests. Yellowstone at Seattle This will be a rematch from a couple of weeks ago as the Quake and Totems square off in Seattle. The last time these two teams met, they played three games that were very tight in the score. The Totems came out on top by winning two of the three games. This will be a big series as Yellowstone is looking to further the gap with the Eugene Generals and put a stranglehold on third place. Glacier vs. West Sound This series may prove to be the most exciting matchup of the weekend and it is certainly the set that has the most at stake. The West Sound Warriors will be traveling to the Glacier Nationals for a three game set. Glacier is competing for their playoff lives this weekend against the Warriors. Currently West Sound has a 12 point lead for the final playoff spot over the Nationals. This matchup is sure to have a lot of emotion and provide a lot of excitement for the fans of both teams.
