Nickels Named HockeyShot.com Defensive POTW

JuniorHockey.com today announced that Luke Nickels, of the Northern Pacific Hockey League's Southern Oregon Spartans, has been named HockeyShot.com's National Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending January 22nd.

Nickelsearned 9 points (2g, 7a) in three games as the Spartans added six more points in the three game sweep of Vancouver this week.

 On Friday, the Carol Stream, Illinois native scored his 11th goal of the season in the first period of the 8-0 win.

 Saturday night, the 20 year-old scored his 12th and added three assists in the Spartans' 8-3 win.

 Sunday was more of the same with a four assist performance that vaulted Nickels to the top of the NORPAC's defensive scoring charts.

 For the season, he has 39 points (12g, 27a) in 31 games.16 of those points have been earned on the power-play (5g, 11a) where the Spartans lead the league with a 26.34 PP%.
