TSN is coming to Blenheim Monday night
Canada’s premier television sports network – TSN – will be at the Blenheim arena Monday night at 9 p.m. to help celebrate Blenheim Blade forward Tyler Clarke’s spectacular goal against Mooretown Flags Oct. 21.
The video of the goal was sent by Blades president Matt Frain to TSN’s hockey expert Bob McKenzie the day after it happened and McKenzie immediately posted it on his Twitter site as well as on the TSN homepage.
From there it went viral and has been seen on Yahoo Sports, EA Sports, The Score television channel and many more locations, including YouTube where it has currently had over 125,000 views.
Since then it was part of a feature on TSN called The Quiz where four different goals, including Clarke’s, were shown to three hockey experts – McKenzie, former Toronto Maple Leaf and teammate of Blades assistant coach Todd Warriner Mike Johnson, and TSN`s Darren Dreger.
The other three goals were by NHLers playing in Russia, including Detroit Red Wing star Paval Datsyuk.
The panel then picked their favourite and Johnson went with Clarke`s, calling it one of the best goals he has ever seen at any level. He also stated he didn`t think he could have done what Clarke did and he scored 129 goals in the NHL.
Well, Johnson is going to get the chance to try as he is one of the TSN staff who will be on hand, and he will attempt to duplicate the goal shortly after 9 p.m. following an interview with Clarke that will appear on TSN`s Plays of the Year program in December.
The practice will be open to the public at no charge, but the Blades are asking that if you do attend please bring a food item for the food bank.
