Trenton holds on for 3-2 win against Toronto Lakeshore
The Toronto Lakeshore Patriots tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Trenton Golden Hawks would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.
A goal by Tyler Donaldson put Trenton up 3-1 in the third period, but Toronto Lakeshore pulled to within one on Rory Bell's tally 13:25 into the third period.
The Golden Hawks were sparked by Donaldson, who finished with one goal. Donaldson scored 11:39 into the third period to make the score Trenton. Hunter Fargey assisted on the tally.
Trenton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Patriots to score on any of their four power plays.
Trenton also got points from Fargey, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Trenton also got a goal from Nick Santoro as well. In addition, Trenton received assists from Brady Wiffen, who had two and Brett Seldon, Nick Boddy, and Brian Hurlimann, who contributed one a piece.
Toronto Lakeshore did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Patriots put an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game.
Andreas Tsogkas also scored for Toronto Lakeshore. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto Lakeshore were Jack OHara, Matthew Marchese, Nathan Feric, and Doug Bonar, who each chipped in one.
Denny Dubblestyne made 22 saves for the Golden Hawks on 24 shots. Trenton incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Jeremy Helvig rejected 16 shots on goal for Toronto Lakeshore. The Patriots incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
