Aurora rolls over Orangeville, 6-1

The Aurora Tigers were firing on all cylinders against the Orangeville Flyers, and when the final buzzer sounded Tigers emerged with a 6-1 win.

 

Aurora was led by Matthew Bernard, who grabbed one goal. Bernard scored 5:56 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Aurora. Adam Power picked up the assist.

The Tigers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Orangeville to score on any of its five power plays. Aurora forced the Flyers goalie Taylor Welsh to work between the pipes, taking 59 shots. The Tigers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Aurora has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of the Tigers were also effective in Orangeville's zone, and came away with two goals. Aurora could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

Aurora additionally got points from Robert Angiolella, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Aurora included Taylor McCloy, who had two and Kyle Liu and Curtis Warren, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Kory Kennedy, who had two, Eric Williams, who had three, and Callum Fryer, Tyler Boston, Travis Barron APMM, Mihkel Poldma, and Calvin Higley, who contributed one a piece.

The Flyers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

Orangeville also got a goal from Devon Gillham as well. More assists for Orangeville came via Kyle Thacker and Jake Derkach, who each chipped in one.

The Tigers' Kevin Entmaa stopped 20 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Aurora registered three goals on 12 power play opportunities. Welsh rejected 53 shots on goal for Orangeville.
