Cobourg downs Burlington, 3-1

Jake Emilio registered one point to lead the Cobourg Cougars to a 3-1 victory over the Burlington Cougars.

 

Cobourg stifled Burlington's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Cougars' offense rang up 43 shots on the Cougars' net. The defensemen of Cobourg were also effective in Burlington's zone, and came away with two goals.

Cobourg also had goals scored by Ryan OGrady and Chris Turner, who scored one goal each. More assists for Cobourg came via Alex D Oliveira, Landon Schiller, Connor Armour, and Mark MacAulay, who contributed one a piece.

The Cougars' offense operated below they season average. Burlington averages 3.2 goals per game. The Cougars could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Burlington was led by Viktor Mueller, who scored the team's only goal. Mueller scored 1:19 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Cobourg. Paolo DeSousa assisted on the tally.

The Cougars' Nathan Perry stopped 18 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Cobourg incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Devin Tappendan rejected 40 shots on goal for the Cougars. Burlington registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
