Huge game by Milner boosts Whitby over Stouffville, 7-2

Behind a great game by Greg Milner, who had one goal and two assists, the Whitby Fury defeated the Stouffville Spirit, 7-2.

Milner scored 1:49 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Whitby. Taylor Best assisted on the tally. Milner dished an assist on Jeff Murray's goal that made the score 4-1 Whitby at 7:45 into the second period. He added another helper on Best's goal that made the score 6-2 Whitby at 5:29 into the third period.

 

Whitby surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Fury average 4.3 goals per contest. Whitby took advantage of Stouffville's penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities.

Whitby also got points from Henry Thompson, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Best, who also had one goal and one assist. Whitby also had goals scored by Ryan Kirkup and Jeff St Pierre, who each put in one. More assists for Whitby came via Jonathan OHara, who had three and Marcus Crawford, Mike Panowyk, Troy Oakley, and Adam Clements, who contributed one a piece.

The Spirit were led by Matthew Heffernan, who registered one goal. Heffernan scored on the power play 10:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stouffville. Stouffville had gained a power play chance when Patrick McAuliffe was whistled for hooking. Jack OHara provided the assist. Stouffville also got a goal from Christopher Brill-Morgan as well. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Michael Morgan, who had one.

Tyler Feaver rejected 25 shots on goal for the Fury. Whitby incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tim Bester recorded 18 saves for the Spirit. Stouffville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
