North York rips Newmarket, 7-3

The North York Rangers had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-3 win over the Newmarket Hurricanes.

 

North York surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Rangers have scored at the pace of 3.7 goals per game during the current campaign.

North York was helped by Brandon Gaudette, who finished with one goal. Gaudette scored 8:53 into the first period to make the score 2-0 North York. Ted Hunt provided the assist. North York additionally got points from Hunt, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Fung Zachary, who also registered one goal and one assist, Liam Kerins, who also had one goal and one assist, and Tye Campbell, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for North York included Gabriel Valenzuela and Corey Kalk, who each put in one. More assists for North York came via Patrick Piacentini, Alex Leader, Matthew Whittaker, and John Carpino, who each chipped in one.

Newmarket was led by Ryan Kruss, who racked up one goal and one assist. Kruss scored on the power play 13:58 into the second period to make the score 4-2 North York. The Hurricanes had gained a power play chance when Power Brody was whistled for roughing after whistle. Justin Maiolino picked up the assist. Newmarket also had goals scored by Sam Hu and Nik Coric, who scored one goal each. In addition, Newmarket received assists from Anthony Trujillo, who had one.

Jason Pucciarelli recorded 27 saves for the Rangers. North York incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Newmarket's Bo Bessette stopped 21 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Hurricanes incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
