Stouffville outlasts Lindsay, 3-2

The Stouffville Spirit gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Lindsay Muskies.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Graham Pickard at 8:14 of the third period.

 

Nick Thomakos had two goals to lead Stouffville to victory. Thomakos scored at 11:00 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 18:50 into the second to make the score 2-2.

The Spirit forced Lindsay goalie Branden Francey to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Stouffville also got points from Pickard, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Stouffville were Matthew Heffernan, Chad Burrows, Michael Morgan, Kyler Challis, and Joseph Deveny, who each chipped in one.

The Muskies were led by Joseph Vocino, who racked up one goal and one assist. Vocino scored 16:13 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Lindsay. Jake Ryan assisted on the tally. Lindsay also got a goal from Vince Herlihey as well. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Michael Spataro, who had one.

Tim Bester recorded 26 saves for Stouffville. The Spirit incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Lindsay's Francey stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Muskies incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
