McCLOY COMMITS TO ADRIAN
Aurora Tigers alternate captain Taylor McCloy (photo credit - Mike Ivall/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Adrian College Bulldogs beginning with the 2014-15 NCHA season.
The native of nearby Keswick, Ontario is currently completing his third and final season with the Tigers, after playing six games for the Orangeville Flyers as an affiliated junior in 2010-11. McCloy played the majority of that season with the Georgina Ice Junior 'C' squad, but record his first OJHL point, an assist, during the short trial run in Orangeville.
The following year he made the full-time jump as an 18-year old rookie with Aurora and tasted immediate success at the next level, registering 24 goals to lead the club and 38 points to finish second in scoring, while being named runner-up as the Gongshow Gear North-West Conference Player-of-the-Month in October. His tremendous first season also earned McCloy a spot on the OJHL North Division All-Star Team that competed at the inaugural Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge that took place in Smiths Falls, Ontario, where he helped the team finish as runner-up in the tourney to Team QJAAAHL.
With a much improved offensive unit surrounding him in 2012-13, McCloy took a slight step back in year two, but still managed to improve his offensive totals to 40 points in 55 regular season games played to finish fifth on the Tigers in scoring, helping the club capture their first North Division banner since the 2006-07 season. Following a disappointing end to the season, in which their were upset in the first round of the playoffs by the Lindsay Muskies, McCloy has returned as one of Aurora's leaders this season and continued his upward trend. He currently sits second on the team in scoring with 26 goals and 61 points, which both rank 14th overall in the entire OJHL, once again leading the Tigers to the North Division regular season title.
Congratulations to Taylor and best of luck in his final OJHL post-season run!
