NORTH YORK PROTEST GRANTED

February 16, 2014
7:00 PM EST

The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL), in conjunction with the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA), announced today that a protest received by the North York Rangers, stemming from an incorrect  call during a shootout, has been granted.

The incident took place during OJHL game number 541 - Trenton Golden Hawks versus North York Rangers at North York Centennial Arena.  It was deemed that the on-ice official made an incorrect ruling when the Trenton goaltender accidentally dislodged the net off the moorings prior to the puck entering the net in the game's final shootout attempt.  The game was ended with the missed shot and the win was awarded to Trenton, however, the proper ruling should have been the North York player taking his shootout shot again.

As a result of the ruling, OJHL game number 541 will resume from the point of error to determine a winner.  Due to travel schedules, timing and the availability of Trenton playing today within the Greater Toronto Area, the game will be resumed immediately following the conclusion of OJHL game number 567 - Trenton versus Milton being played today (February 17, 2014) at Milton Memorial Arena with a 1:00pm scheduled start time.
