EVANS RECEIVES PLAYER OF MONTH AWARD

Prior to Friday night's St. Michael's Buzzers game, NHL Prospect Jake Evans was honoured with his OJHL Gongshow Gear South-West Conference Player-of-the-Month Award.

On-hand for the presentation (left-to-right - photo credit: Shawn Muir/OJHL Images) was Buzzers Team Chaplain, Father Michael Lehman and OJHL Manager of Hockey Operations Brent Garbutt.  Evans recorded 14 assists and 17 points in seven February games to close out the 2013-14 regular season.  

He would record one assist in the game as the Buzzers fell 4-3 to the rival North York Rangers and now trail 2-0 in the South-West Conference Quarter-Final series.  Game three in the series will take place on Sunday afternoon with a 3:00pm puck drop at North York Centennial Arena.

Around the league,, the Cobourg Cougars and Kingston Voyageurs both posted 1-0 shutout victories over Wellington and Pickering respectively to take 2-0 leads in their series, while the Whitby Fury shutout Trenton 4-0 to also take a two game series lead.  The Toronto Lakeshore Patriots went up 2-0 with a 4-3 victory over Toronto and the Georgetown Raiders won a thrilling 2-1 contest over Milton on the strength of Steve Midensky's overtime-winner.  The Raiders also have a 2-0 series lead.
