Toronto Lakeshore holds on for 4-3 win against Toronto

The Toronto Junior Canadiens tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots held on for a 4-3 victory.

Toronto Lakeshore made the score 4-2 on a goal by Brandon Willett at 17:01 in the third period, and Toronto got as close as 4-3 when Aaron Spivak scored 17:33 into the third period.

 

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, the Junior Canadiens face elimination next time out.

Willett had a great game for the Patriots, netting two goals.

Toronto Lakeshore kept Toronto's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mitch Mathieu made 34 saves on 38 shots.

Toronto Lakeshore also had goals scored by Nicholas Ursitti and Kevin Shier, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto Lakeshore were Nathan Feric, Doug Bonar, and Michael Prapavessis, who contributed one a piece.

Others who scored for Toronto included Mark Spadafora and Connor Prudames, who each put in one. In addition, Toronto received assists from Aaron Thow, Ryan MacSpadyen, Cody Thompson, Nicholas Jarzabek, and Anthony Repaci, who each chipped in one.

The Patriots' Evan Buitenhuis stopped 16 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Toronto Lakeshore incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Junior Canadiens incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Toronto ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and MacSpadyen was ejected from the game.
