Georgetown erases deficit to stun Milton, 5-4

Georgetown let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Raiders took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by Steve Midensky at 9:18 in the first period. Georgetown went down 3-1 after Milton's Jake Baird put the puck home at 14:03 in the first period. After knotting things up at 4-4 on a goal by Ryan Smith at 12:32 in the third, the Raiders got the game-winner from Anthony Marra at 13:57 in the third period.

 

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, the Icehawks face elimination next time out.

Adam Mascherin was all over the ice for Georgetown, as he racked up two goals in the win. Mascherin scored on the power play at 19:59 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Milton and again while on the power play 4:40 into the second to make the score 3-3.

The Raiders kept Milton's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ben Blacker made 48 saves on 53 shots.

Georgetown additionally got points from Smith, who also registered one goal and two assists and Marra, who also tallied one goal and two assists. More assists for Georgetown came via Liam Clare, who had one and Steve Hladin, who had five.

Georgetown was unable to stop the Icehawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Milton eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

The Icehawks were helped by Josh Pace, who finished with one goal. Pace scored 8:12 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Milton. Milton also got points from Baird, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Mitch Graham, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Shane Bennett also scored for Milton. In addition, Milton received assists from Alex Riche, Kane Elliot, Jeremy Gottzmann, and Ramon Lopez, who contributed one a piece.

Michael McNiven rejected 33 shots on goal for the Raiders. Georgetown incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Milton incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
