Kingston outlasts Pickering, 4-3

The game between the Kingston Voyageurs and the Pickering Panthers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Kingston emerged with a 4-3 win (The Kingston Voyageurs took a commanding three games to one lead over Pickering - photo credit: Robert John Boucher).

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Alex Tonge's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

 

The win by the Voyageurs clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

Kingston got the win on the strength of a great game by Tonge, who had two goals and one assist. Tonge scored the first of his two goals at 4:22 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brett Seney picked up the assist. Tonge's next tally made the score 4-3 Kingston with 12:31 left in the second period. The Voyageurs had gained a power play chance when Mike Nedoszytko was whistled for high sticking. Adam Brady provided the assist.

Kingston kept Pickering's goalie busy throughout the game, and Steven Dombrosky made 46 saves on 50 shots.

Kingston additionally got points from Brady, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Kingston also got a goal from Cole Bolton as well. In addition, Kingston received assists from Mason Nowak, Brandon OQuinn, and Brody Heleno, who each chipped in one.

The Panthers were led by Michael Walker, who racked up two goals and one assist. Walker scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 1:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pickering. A slashing penalty on Bolton had put Pickering on the power play. Brodie Tutton picked up the assist. Walker's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 18:21 left in the second period. Ian Chen provided the assist. Pickering also got points from Chen, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Pickering came via Robert Cammalleri, who had one.

Sam Tanguay made 27 saves for the Voyageurs on 30 shots. Kingston incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Panthers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
