CAREY NAMED HOBEY BAKER FINALIST
For the second consecutive year, and one day after signing an NHL contract, former Burlington Cougar Greg Carey (photo credit - Tara Freeman/SLU) has been named a Top 10 Finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.

St. Lawrence University senior Greg Carey has been selected as a finalist for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award for the second straight year.
Carey, who signed a professional contract with the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday and is expected to make his professional debut with the Portland Pirates on March 23, becomes the first two-time Hobey Baker finalist in Saint program history.
Also a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award, Carey led the ECAC in scoring for the second straight year and becomes the first player since 1999 to lead the nation in goals one year and in assists the next. Currently the third leading scorer in college hockey with 57 points on 18 goals and 39 assists, he averaged 1.03 assists per game as a senior.
A 2013 first-team All ECAC selection and a second-team All America, he is likely to repeat as All America as a senior, becoming the first two-time All America for the Saints since Pete Lappin and Hank Lammens in 1988. He is also a finalist for ECAC Player of the Year, an award which will be announced Friday.
He finished his Saint career as the first player in program history to lead the team in scoring in four consecutive seasons and is the first back-to-back 50-point scorer since Burke Murphy in 1995 and 1996. He finished his Saint career with 85 goals and 101 assists for 185 total points in 152 games. He ranks tied for third in all-time goals, tied for seventh in all-time assists and tied for second in career points.
Also an outstanding student, Carey is a finalist for ECAC Student-Athlete of the Year and is a four-time ECAC All Academic selection.
The Hobey Baker "Hat Trick"….the top three finalists for the award, will be announced April 2 and the award winner will be announced on April 11.
