Toronto Lakeshore erases deficit to stun Georgetown, 5-3

The Toronto Lakeshore Patriots rallied from three goals down to secure a 5-3 win over the Georgetown Raiders.

Toronto Lakeshore never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Patriots was down 3-0 after a goal by Georgetown's Ryan Smith at 17:10 in the first period. Toronto Lakeshore tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Nathan Feric at 14:20 in the third period. The Patriots got the game winner at 16:54 in the third period on a goal by Feric.

 

The win gave Toronto Lakeshore a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Kevin Shier was all over the ice for the Patriots, as he tallied two goals and three assists in the win.

Toronto Lakeshore also got points from Feric, who also tallied two goals and one assist and Doug Bonar, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto Lakeshore were Andreas Tsogkas, who had one.

The Raiders were helped by John Adams, who grabbed one goal. Adams scored 7:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgetown. Brendan Jacome picked up the assist. Georgetown additionally got points from Smith, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Adam Mascherin also scored for Georgetown. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Liam Clare, Steve Hladin, Anthony Marra, and Liam Board, who contributed one each.

Evan Buitenhuis recorded 25 saves for Toronto Lakeshore. The Patriots incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Michael McNiven made 23 saves for Georgetown on 27 shots. The Raiders incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with two minors. Georgetown ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Steve Midensky was ejected from the game.
