Wellington Dukes forward Andrew McCann (photo credit - Shawn Muir/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons beginning with the 2014-15 SUNYAC season.

The twenty-year old forward has been playing top-six minutes since joining the Dukes, as well as time on both specialty teams.  The native of Bowmanville, Ontario made his first appearance in the OJHL as a 17-year old member of the Villanova Knights in 2010-11, recording seven points in 43 games played, while getting his first taste of post-season action.  The following year, McCann moved with the franchise to Orangeville, but after recording nearly a point-per-game pace, he was traded to the Pickering Panthers, where he would finish as the club's leading scorer with 29 assists and 42 points in 48 regular season games.  The playmaker continued to improve his offensive output in 2012-13, once again leading the Panthers with 36 assists, 22nd best in the entire OJHL, and 50 points in 52 games played, while earning a spot on the OJHL North Division All-Star Team that competed at the 2012 Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge that was held in Wellington.  McCann started this past season in Trenton, notching eight points in nine games, before a trade saw him moved to Carleton Place in the CCHL.  He played just a pair of games for the Canadians before he returned to the OJHL with the Dukes, where he finished the season strong, recording 26 points in 38 games for the club.

Congratulations to Andrew on the commitment and best of luck at the Dudley-Hewitt Cup and beyond!
