Kingston Voyageurs defenceman Jarret Kup (photo credit - Robert John Boucher/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Curry College Colonels beginning with the 2014-15 ECAC Northeast season.

The Rousseau, Ontario native was a product of the North Central Predators Minor Midget 'AAA' program and joined the OJHL (then CCHL) as a 16-year old member of the Seguin Bruins in 2009-10.  The youngster acquitted himself well, posting four points in 45 regular season games played for the last place club.  Following a stint in Junior 'B,' Kup returned the OJHL in 2012-13 with the Vees, spending the past two seasons patrolling the blueline.  The 6', 180 lbs. defender helped the club advance to overtime of game seven in the North-East Conference Championship and this season took on more of an offensive role, leading the defensive-corps in scoring with 27 points in 53 contests, as the Voyageurs captured the OJHL regular season title..  His 27 points tied him for 21st in the OJHL among rearguards, while his 25 assists ranked 14th best at the position.  Despite the disappointment of falling in the North-East Conference Final for the second consecutive year, Kup closed a tremendous junior career with the Vees.

"We are very proud of him (Kup) as person and player," said Voyageurs head coach Colin Birkas, "and saw real growth in his game his two years here.  He will be tough to replace but are very proud and excited to make this announcement."

Congratulations to Jarret and best of luck in the NCAA!
