HELENO COMMITS TO SALEM STATE
Kingston Voyageurs alternate captain Brody Heleno (photo credit - Tim Bates/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Salem State University Vikings beginning with the 2014-15 MASCAC season.
The Mississauga, Ontario native made his OJHL debut, playing five games as a 16-year affiliate in 2009-10. After spending the 2010-11 season with the Markham Majors Midget 'AAA' squad, Heleno joined the OJHL fulltime in 2011-12 with the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots. He would record three assists during the regular season as a rookie and then another four during 13 post-season contests as the franchise made their first lengthy playoff run, falling to the Whitby Fury in the South-East Conference Championship Series. The following season, Heleno notched his first junior goals, recording three, as well as 12 points in 50 games.
During the off-season, Heleno was moved to the Kingston Voyageurs and helped lead the club to the OJHL regular season title this past season while recording career-highs of 9 goals and 18 points in 51 games played. He added annother seven points during another trip to the Conference Final, this time falling to the Aurora Tigers.
