Mississauga Chargers captain Trevor Warnaar (photo credit - Shawn Muir/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the University of Western Ontario Mustangs beginning with the 2014-15 OUA season.

Born on July 2, 1993, Trevor Warnaar grew up and played his minor hockey in Brampton, Ontario, finishing with two seasons of Midget 'AAA' as a member of the Brampton Battalion.

Following his final season of midget in 2009-10, the talented forward was recruited by the nearby Mississauga Chargers and little did they know at the time that he would become the player and leader on which their club would be judged.

He tasted immediate success as a 17-year old rookie, posting 12 goals and 27 points in 36 regular season games played to finish sixth in scoring on the Chargers.  Warnaar has his first taste of adversity during year two, which saw him play only 13 games for the club due to an injury-shortened season.  However, he showed his true potential during those contests, racking up 8 goals and 22 points to still finish fifth in scoring on his team.

That summer, his dedication and hard work paid off as the Chargers named Warnaar captain of the club, a position he continues to hold today.  Playing almost the full 2012-13 OJHL season, he led Mississauga in scoring with 37 assists and 56 points, of which his 37 assists tied for 17th best in the entire league.  His play peaked in January and he would be named runner-up as the OJHL's Gongshow Gear South-West Conference Player-of-the-Month, although Warnaar would face disappointment once again as the club missed the post-season for his third consecutive season.

Despite missing a significant chunk of the season due to injury once again, Warnaar led the Chargers in scoring with 49 points and even more impressively returned the franchise to the OJHL playoff picture for the first time since 2006-07.

Congratulations to Trevor on his tremendous OJHL career and best of luck in the OUA!
