VALENTE COMMITS TO PLATTSBURGH
Mississauga Chargers defenceman Ayrton Valente (photo credit - Tim Bates/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Plattsburgh State University Cardinals beginning with the 2014-15 SUNYAC season.
The Vaughan, Ontario native got his start in the OJHL with his hometown Vipers, affiliating with the club for two seasons, 2009-11, out of the Vaughan Kings Midget 'AAA' program. Following his minor hockey career, the 18-year old joined the Mississauga Chargers full-time in 2011-12 and spent the majority of the past three seasons patrolling the Chargers blueline. Valente's offensive production would improve each season and he led Mississauga's d-corps in scoring during 2012-13 with 7 goals and 23 points in 47 regular season contests. After a brief stint in the NAHL to start last season, Valente returned home and was a key member of the club's push that resulted in a long overdue return to the OJHL playoff action. After notching 17 points in 25 regular season games, Valente finished his junior career with an impressive post-season performance that saw him finish fourth on the entire team in scoring with seven points in their six game series loss to the Buffalo Jr. Sabres
Congratulations to Ayrton on the commitment and best of luck in the NCAA!
