SIKURA SELECTED BY CHICAGO

Aurora Tigers forward Dylan Sikura (photo credit - Shawn Muir/OJHL Images) has been selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 6th round, 178th overalll, of the 2014 NHL Draft.

The 5'11", 160 lbs. native of Aurora, joined the Tigers in 2011-12 after recording 41 points in 54 games for the Mike Gartner coached South Central Coyotes in OMHA action.  During the summer of 2011 he was selected in the 14th round, 266th overall by the Erie Otters in the OHL Priority Selection, but chose to join his hometown Tigers, hoping to earn a scholarship opportunity, of which he originally committed to Dartmouth College, hoping to join his broth Tyler.

Sikura has played all three OJHL seasons as a member of the Tigers.  He would record 18 points in 44 games as a rookie, while notching two goals in nine post-season contests.  Year two saw Sikura as one of the club's offensive catalyst's and the prospect would be named to Team East that would defeat Team West to win the President's Cup at the 2012 CJHL Prospects Games held in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.  He would also help Team OJHL defeat the CCHL 4-3 in a shootout during the 2012 Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge Prospects Game held in Wellington, Ontario.  Sikura finished the year with 20 assists and 28 points in 46 games played, helping the Tigers capture their first North Division title since 2007.

After overcoming an early season injury, Sikura returend stronger than ever and finished second on the Tigers in scoring with 64 points in 41 games played, while also leading the team with 47 assists, tied for the fourth best total in the entire OJHL.  For the second consecutive year he was named to Team East helping them win a second consecutive President's Cup title in the CJHL Prospects Games.  During the post-season, Sikura continued his remarkable play, leading the Tigers to the North-East Conference Championship before falling to the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots in the OJHL Championship Series.  Sikura led the Tigers in scoring with 10 goals and 21 points in 21 playoff contests.
