LEADER COMMITS TO RYERSON
North York Rangers defenceman Alex Leader (photo credit - Phillip Sutherland/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Ryerson University Rams beginning with the 2014-15 OUA season.
The Aurora, Ontario native joined his local York-Simcoe Express 'AAA' program after spending his minor midget season with the South Central Coyotes in 2008-09, and he would get his first taste of OJHL action as a member of his hometown Tigers, playing one game and recording two assists.
After starting the 2010-11 season with the Uxbridge Bruins Junior 'C' club, Leader made the fulltime jump to Junior 'A' hockey with the Orangeville Flyers, playing 38 games and notching four assists. Over the next three seasons, Leader would play for three different teams in the Markham Waxers (2011-12), Trenton Golden Hawks (2012-13) and North York Rangers this past season, steadily improving his offensive output each year. Two seasons ago, Leader would finish second in scoring on the Golden Hawks blueline, registering 25 points in 55 contests, while helping lead the club to the OJHL Regular Season title. He again finished second on the Rangers d-corps this past season with 7 goals and 27 points in 51 games played. Leader ends his OJHL career having played in almost 200 (195) regular season and playoff games.
Congratulations to Alex on the commitment and best of luck at the next level!
