Oakville Blades forward David Dischiavi (photo credit - Dave Powers/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Western New England University Golden Bears beginning with the 2014-15 ECAC Northeast Conference season.

A reliable defensive centreman, Dischiavi recorded 7 goals and 15 points in 52 games with the Blades during the 2013-2014 season. A well-rounded student athlete who excels both academically and athletically, Dischiavi began his junior career playing with the Toronto Titans Bantam team back in 2009 before joining the Vaughan Kings the following year. After spending time with the St. Michael’s College Varsity Double Blues in 2011-2012, holding a 3.9 GPA, Dischiavi found his way into the OJHL, joining the North York Rangers for a game before the season came to a close.

Before returning to Junior A for 2013-2014, Dischiavi played for the Millbrook Prep School, posting 24 points in 30 contests with the club. His time with the school caught the attention of the Blades, who signed Dischiavi prior to the most recent season. During his time in Oakville, fans were able to watch Dischiavi grow into a reliable forward with fantastic speed and a great release.

"As an organization we're really excited for David," said Blades General Manager Mike Daley. “He's a great kid who we saw huge development from over the course of last season. David's got a great release and can play in all situations. His numbers don't reflect his offensive ability as we asked him to take on a role and he played and grew within that role very well. We wish David continued success at the NCAA level as a Golden Bear."

Congratulations to David on the commitment and best of luck at New England!
