Toronto Jr. Canadiens downs St. Michaels in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens' Matthew Ferrari scored 4:48 into overtime to beat the St. Michaels Buzzers, 4-3 (OT).

 

In the losing effort, St. Michaels was led by Ian Edmondson, who racked up two goals. Edmondson scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:09 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Toronto Jr. Canadiens. An interference penalty on Michael Cuddemi had put the Buzzers on the power play. Luca Doctor picked up the assist. Edmondson's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 2:25 left in the second period. St. Michaels earned a power play opportunity when Will Lawrence was put in the box for tripping. Thomas Beretta provided the assist.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens' offense rang up 43 shots on St. Michaels' net.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens also got points from Kevin Hancock, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Aaron Spivak, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Ryan Kruss also scored for Toronto Jr. Canadiens. In addition, Toronto Jr. Canadiens received assists from Justin Maiolino, who had two and Luca Farrace, Anthony Repaci, and Ryan Ngan, who each chipped in one.

The Junior Canadiens were unable to stop the Buzzers from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Michaels eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. The defensemen of the Buzzers were also effective in Toronto Jr. Canadiens' zone, and came away with two goals.

St. Michaels additionally got points from Beretta, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for St. Michaels came via Marcel Fatovic, Joseph Berton, and Bron Loiselle, who contributed one each.

The Junior Canadiens' Daniel Lopapa stopped 31 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Toronto Jr. Canadiens incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. George Argiropoulos rejected 39 shots on goal for St. Michaels. The Buzzers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. St. Michaels ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Sam Hunter was ejected from the game.
