Hamilton erases deficit to stun Toronto Patriots, 4-3

The Toronto Patriots Patriots could not hold down the Hamilton Red Wings, and Red Wings erased a three-goal deficit en route to a 4-3 win.

Hamilton never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Red Wings was down 3-0 after a goal by Toronto Patriots' Jeremy Pullara at 15:58 in the first period. Hamilton tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Laine McKay at 1:14 in the third period. The Red Wings scored the game winner at 14:30 in the third period on a goal by McKay.

 

Hamilton's penalty kill excelled, as the Red Wings gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Hamilton stifled the Patriots' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Red Wings were helped by Rylee St. Onge, who tallied one goal. Hamilton also got points from Ryan Punkari, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Hamilton also got a goal from Josh LaFrance as well. In addition, Hamilton received assists from Luke Sinclair, who had two and Jason OConnor, Matt Smith, Carl Greco, Ryan Erickson, and Giovanni Foschia, who contributed one each.

Nicholas Geiser also scored for Toronto Patriots. More assists for Toronto Patriots came via Tyler Currie, Mario Ferraro, Luke Carter, Connor Beck, and Quinn Syrydiuk, who each chipped in one.

Mark Sinclair made 11 saves before being replaced by Alexander Bishop, who took the win and made 15 saves. Hamilton totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. For the Red Wings, Punkari was ejected from the game. Emanuel Vella made 22 saves for Toronto Patriots on 26 shots. The Patriots ended with 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors. For Toronto Patriots, James Sterne and Beau Browning were ejected from the contest.
