North York downs St. Michaels in overtime, 4-3 (OT)
The North York Rangers' Matthew Whittaker scored 4:23 into overtime to beat the St. Michaels Buzzers, 4-3 (OT).
North York came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Rangers trailed 3-1 after a goal by St. Michaels' Bron Loiselle at 5:31 in the third period. North York knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Gabriel Valenzuela at 18:11 in the third period.
The Rangers was paced on offense by Valenzuela and Whittaker, who combined for five points. Valenzuela registered two goals and one assist and Whittaker also notched one goal and one assist.
The Buzzers were unable to stop North York from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rangers eventually piled up 49 shots on goal.
North York also got points from Whittaker, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Ted Hunt also scored for North York. More assists for North York came via Zachary Fung, Brett Seldon, and Will Reilly, who each chipped in one.
St. Michaels' offense rang up 36 shots on North York's net.
St. Michaels also got a goal from Scott Teskey as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Michaels were Ashur Elliot, Matt Pepler, A.J. Dorazio, Troy Oakley, and Ryan Kruss, who contributed one each.
Gianluca Baggetta rejected 33 shots on goal for the Rangers. North York incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Mark Manolescu recorded 45 saves for the Buzzers. St. Michaels incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
