Georgetown's Adams deadly on offense in 2-1 win against Whitby

The Georgetown Raiders relied on the scoring touch of John Adams, who netted two goals, to beat the Whitby Fury, 2-1.

Adams scored at 9:51 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Georgetown and again while 13:12 into the third to make the score 2-1 Georgetown.

Georgetown was led by goalie Jack LaFontaine, who finished with 30 saves while allowing one goal. LaFontaine certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.89 entering the contest.

Whitby was unable to stop the Raiders from sending pucks towards the net, and Georgetown eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

More assists for Georgetown came via Steve Hladin, Thomas Welsh, and Anthony Marra, who contributed one each.

The Fury managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for 12 minutes in penalty time. Whitby wound up below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. The Fury's offense operated below their season average. Whitby puts an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game. The Fury's offense rang up 31 shots on the Raiders' net.

Whitby was led by Ryan Erickson, who scored the team's only goal. Erickson scored 10:48 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Jeremy Wu assisted on the tally.

Georgetown incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Tyler Feaver rejected 31 shots on goal for the Fury. Whitby registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
