St. Michael's Buzzers captain Ian Edmondson (photo credit - Amy Deroche/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Canisius College Golden Griffins beginning with the 2015-16 Atlantic Hockey season.

The fourth year OJHL veteran has spent his entire OJHL career as a member of the Buzzers after joining the club in 2011-12 as a 16-year old out of the Toronto Red Wings Minor Midget 'AAA' program.  That summer, he had been selected by the Niagara IceDogs in the 7th round, 140th overall, of the 2011 OHL Priority Selection.

During his four year tenure at St. Mike's, Edmondson has gradually increased his offensive production each season from three points as a rookie to 28 last season, tops among the club's rearguards.  This year, he finished with a career-best 10 goals and 31 points to again lead the club's blueline, while also sitting 15th in scoring among all defencemen in the OJHL.

Edmondson was a key member of the Buzzers d-corps during his second season when they went on to defeat the Newmarket Hurricanes in seven games to capture the 2013 OJHL Championship and Buckland Cup, although would be disappointed when they fell in the championship game of the Dudley-Hewitt Cup held in North Bay, missing out on an opportunity to compete for a national title.

For the past two seasons, Edmondson has also been selected to participate in the annual Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge.  First at the 2013 event as a member of the South-West Conference All-Star Team that finished as runner-up at the tournament held in Terrebonne, Quebec, and then this year as a member of Team OJHL Oates, notching three points in five games to help lead his team to the title with a 4-0 victory over Team OJHL Nieuwendyk in the championship game.

Congratulations to Ian on the achievement and best of luck during his final OJHL playoff run!
