Trenton falls to Kingston in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Kingston Voyageurs' Adam Brady scored 17:25 into overtime to beat the Trenton Golden Hawks, 4-3 (OT).

 

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Trenton faces elimination next time out.

Kingston came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Voyageurs trailed 3-1 after a goal by the Golden Hawks' Blayne Oliver at 40 seconds in the third period. Kingston knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Alex Tonge at 10:20 in the third period.

Tonge had a great game for the Voyageurs, netting two goals.

Kingston kept Trenton's goalie busy throughout the game, and Justin Kapelmaster made 47 saves on 51 shots.

Kingston also got a goal from Zachary Emelifeonwu as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kingston were Spencer Green, who had two and Adam Moodie, Alex Stothart, and Rory McGuire, who contributed one each.

The Golden Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Kingston power plays. The Voyageurs were unable to stop Trenton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Golden Hawks eventually piled up 60 shots on goal.

Trenton was helped by Brady Wiffen, who registered one goal. Wiffen scored on the power play 14:44 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Trenton. The Golden Hawks had gained a power play chance when Joey Rutkowski was whistled for interference. Chrisitian Lloyd picked up the assist. Danny Liscio also scored for Trenton. More assists for Trenton came via Zach de Concilys, who had three.

Kingston's Daniel Urbani stopped 57 shots out of the 60 that he faced. The Voyageurs incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Trenton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Golden Hawks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Loren Ulett was ejected from the game.
