LLOYD COMMITS TO SACRED HEART
Trenton Golden Hawks defenceman Christian Lloyd (photo credit - Tim Bates/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Sacred Heart University Pioneers beginning with the 2016-17 Atlantic Hockey season.
The Oakville, Ontario native spent the past two seasons with the Golden Hawks after spending his midget seasons with the Toronto Nationals and Mississauga Rebels 'AAA' organizations. During that time, Lloyd would affiliate with two different OJHL clubs. First he played 10 games with the Mississauga Chargers during the 2011-12 season and then he would play three games (two regular season and one playoff) for the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots in 2012-13, notching his first OJHL point, as assist.
Lloyd would make the fulltime jump to Junior 'A' in 2013-14, moving East to join Trenton, where he helped to solidify an already talented blueline corps. The 18-year old would finish second among the club's rearguards in scoring during the regular season with 26 points in 52 games played, before adding another 5 points in 12 playoff match-ups. A fitness fanatic, the small, but sturdy, defender entered this past season expecting to log significant minutes for his club and he did just that. After being shutout in the first game of the year, Lloyd would lead the club's defence in scoring for most of the season in scoring, finishing fourth overall on the club and first among all OJHL defencemen with 52 points in 51 games played. His success earned a spot on Team OJHL Oates, registering two points as they captured the 2014 Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge in Toronto. Following the season, that saw the Golden Hawks finish as runner-up for the overall regular season crown, Lloyd would be named a 1st Team All-Star, but faced disappointment when his club was upset by the surprising Kingston Voyageurs in the North-East Conference Championship Series.
Congratulations to Christian on the commitment and we look forward to seeing him close out his junior career next season!
