Whitby Fury captain Henry Thompson (photo credit - Andy Corneau/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Queen's University Gaels beginning with the 2015-16 OUA season.

The Oshawa, Ontario native played four full seasons with the nearby Whitby Fury out of the Oshawa Generals Midget 'AAA' program, having been selected by the Ottawa 67's in the 12th round, 236th overall, of the 2010 OHL Priority Selection.  Thompson would play two games for the Fury as an affiliate in 2010-11 before joining the OJHL club full-time the following year.

During his four seasons in Whitby, Thompson steadily increased his offensive output, while providing a leadership role that culminated with the captaincy this past season.  As a rookie in 2011-12, Thompson helped the club capture the South-East Conference Championship, ultimately finishing as runner-up to the Stouffville Spirit.  Although not tasting team success over the next three years, Thompson increased his point total from 27 to 44, and notched 19 goals and 32 points in just 30 games played this past season.

During the 2012-13 season, Thompson would be named to the OJHL East Division All-Star Team that would go on to capture the 2012 Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge with a 1-0 victory over the CCHL in Wellington, Ontario.  This past year he was a member of Team OJHL Hawerchuk, notching two points in three games during the 2014 tournament held in Toronto.

Congratulations to Henry and best of luck at Queen's!
