TEAKLE NAMED PATRIOTS HEAD COACH
Former Cobourg Cougars head coach Justin Teakle was named the new Director of Hockey Operations & Head Coach of the two-time defending champion Toronto Patriots.
A former OJHL player with the Milton Icehawks during the mid-2000's, Teakle was the General Manager and Head Coach of the Streetsville Derbys from 2009-11 after previously having been an assistant coach under former NHLer Dennis Maruk. Following the 2010-11 season, the Derbys merged with the Cobourg Cougars and Teakle took on the coaching responsibilities with the newly combined club. He would be released following a single season at the helm.
Most recently Teakle has been guiding student-athletes at The Hill Academy in Vaughan, Ontario.
"Justin brings a strong hockey pedigree as both a player and coach in the OJHL, as well as the depth of experience in guiding student-athletes at The Hill Academy," said the Patriots. "We look to Justin to continue and strengthen the Patriots’ culture of winning and developing junior hockey players."
