Former Toronto Jr. Canadien Jake Walman (photo courtesy of PC Athletics), now with the Providence College Friars, was named to both Hockey Canada & USA Hockey's World Junior Championship Summer Development Camps.

A dual citizen of both countries, Walman is in the unique position of having been invited to both summer camps.  While he is the lone graduate of the OJHL on the U.S. roster, joining him at Team Canada's camp are the following alumni:

  • Michael Dal Colle - St. Michael's Buzzers, 2011/12
  • Travis Dermott - Newmarket Hurricanes, 2012/13
  • Robby Fabbri - Toronto Jr. Canadiens, 2011/12
  • Mitch Marner - St. Michael's Buzzers, 2012/13

The 6', 196 lbs. native of Toronto, Ontario joined the Jr. Canadiens as a 17-year old rookie this season out of the Toronto Jr. Canadiens Midget 'AAA' program (previously had played minor midget for the North York Rangers).  Walman has exceeded expectations this season and slowly worked his way not only on to the scouting radar, but to the top of the charts among Junior 'A' players in the CJHL.  A member of Team Canada East at the 2013 World Junior 'A' Challenge held in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Walman also recorded three points for the OJHL South-West Conference All-Star Team that finished as runner-up at the 2013 Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge that was held in Terrebonne, Quebec.  Walman recorded 33 points in 43 games played and was named both the OJHL Top Prospect and Rookie-of-the-Year, while also being named 1st Team All-Prospect. Following the season, Walman was then named the CJHL Top Prospect Award winner, as well as co-Rookie of the Year, and the BJ Monro Memorial Award winnner as the OHA Top Prospect.
