Oakville Blades forward Matt Lippa (photo credit - Kevin Sousa/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Manhattanville College Valiants beginning with the 2015-16 ECAC West Conference season.
After playing two seasons of Junior 'B' in the GOJHL with the Guelph Hurricanes, including his second as captain and Midwestern Conference scoring champion, Matt Lippa joined the Wellington Dukes late in the club's 2013-14 playoff campaign. He wouuld notch one goal for the club as the host of the 2014 Dudley-Hewitt Cup, Central Canadian Junior 'A' Championship as the Dukes came within one win of reaching nationals, ultimately falling to the OJHL champion Toronto Lakeshore Patriots.
In his first year with the Blades last season, the Richmond Hill, Ontario native proved himself to be an elite scorer after previously being a major scoring threat in the GOJHL. Matt brought a tremendous amount of skill to the lineup, leading the Blades with 46 points in 51 games at the end of the season. Lippa then finished first in playoff scoring for the Blades after an eight point performance, putting him on top of the board in both the regular season and post-season for the club.
With his commitment, Lippa follows in the footsteps of Max Lindsay, Sean Kohler, Matt McLeod, Kamil Tkaczuk, Ross Sloan, Greg Campbell, Jackson Bales, Tanner Shaw and Broadhurst, who have all committed to various NCAA and CIS schools for the future.
Congratulations to Matt and best of luck in the NCAA!
