St. Michaels hangs on, beats Whitby 1-0
Mark Manolescu gave the St. Michaels Buzzers the lead in the first period, and the Whitby Fury was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 1-0.
A goal 5:23 into the first period by Manolescu proved to be the game winner, and powered St. Michaels to the victory.Manolescu frustrated Whitby's offense all game, and stopped 34 shots en route to a shutout.
The Buzzers were led by Manolescu, who tallied one goal.
St. Michaels forced the Fury goalie Austin Cain to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.
Whitby's offense rang up 34 shots on the Buzzers' net.
St. Michaels ended with no penalties and went 0-for-0 on the power play. Cain rejected 39 shots on goal for the Fury. Whitby avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of zero power plays.
