Georgetown Raiders rookie defenceman Matthew Thom (pictured right - photo credit: Shawn Muir/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Princeton University Tigers beginning with the 2017-18 ECAC season.

The 17-year old native of Oakville, Ontario has spent last season at St. Andrew's College, having played the 2013-14 season with the Mississauga Senators Minor Midget 'AAA' squad.  That year, he also got his first taste of OJHL action, playing two games as an affiliate with his hometown Blades, while also helping lead the Senators to a spot in the prestigious OHL Cup tournament.  Following the season, Thom was selected by the Kingston Frontenacs in the 4th round, 71st overall, of the 2014 OHL Priority Selection.

Thom made his OHL debut on Saturday night in an 8-2 Raiders victory over the Oakville Blades and he picked up his first OJHL point; an assist.

Congratulations to Matthew on both his OJHL debut and the commitment, and we look forward to his bright future in the league!
